Tralee Bay Swimming Club promotes the sport of Open Water Swimming and the health benefits and social activities associated with it. The club is involved in several events throughout the year including summer sea swimming; winter swimming; water safety classes and swimming lessons for children. There is also a strong social side to the club with several barbeques organised over the summer and an end of season get together in September. Many members are particularly active in the summer months when a series of swims are organised at the bathing slip in Fenit from May to September. Collectively the swims are known as the “World Series”.
The dates and times of the World Series swims can be found in the club tide tables. A copy of the tide tables is given to each member. The most important thing to realise about the World Series is that the swims work off a handicap system. The handicap system allows swimmers of all abilities to participate – competitively or non-competitively – in the swims, swimmers are only swimming against their own time!
The club is based in Fenit, Co. Kerry where we have changing rooms at the Bathing Slip.
